Greetings to everyone! I'm Jeff Tolbert, I was born February 19,1971 to Troy & Phyllis Tolbert from Mount Airy, NC. Living in the Blueridge Mountains music was a huge part of our lives growing up. Both sides of my family are richly blessed with singing and playing instruments. I can remember our family get togethers and how that influenced me as a child. At an early age I remember singing at all the local churches and events in our community with my dad. He would place my fingers on all the strings and tell me to "hold it there son". I'm so thankful for my Godly raising and for my wonderful parents who encouraged me and took me to church. At the age of 8 years old while at a youth camp, I gave my life to the Lord and he saved my soul. I owe my talents to the one who gave them to me and I just want to sing and play for my precious savior who hung and died on a cross for my sins, and try my best to tell him thank you.
At the age of 15, I began traveling full time with the Easter Brothers, where we all lived in the same hometown. Since then, I have been fortunate to be with many great groups and their ministries.
For almost 30 years, I have been a member of the Primitive Quartet. It’s amazing how God has blessed us, our Quartet and given me all those years to travel and sing with them. God allowed us to celebrate a Legacy of 50 years singing Gospel music.
With music being a big part of my life, God has also given me my beautiful wife Shaytonya and two wonderful loving children Briley & Ilah.
I thank God for every step of this journey and excited to keep telling of his goodness where ever we may go.
Hello everybody! My name is Elisha Moore and I'm 16 years old. I sing and play guitar with Jeff Tolbert & Primitive Road. I grew up around a musical family and have always loved to sing since I was a baby. My parents Steven & Kim, my siblings Isaac & Abigail, and myself would sing in local churches and they taught me to sing harmony at a very young age. With that being said, at the age of 9, The Lord saved my soul and I found the real meaning behind the songs that I would always hear and sing. At the age of 11, I heard the Inspirations Quartet at Hominy Valley in Candler, NC with the Primitive Quartet. On that stage I saw my brother, Isaac. As I heard all of the groups that night, it put an interest for gospel music in my heart like I've never had. I began listening and learning every song and group that I possibly could. I prayed that God would open a door into gospel music for me.
He answered that prayer for me 4 years later.
God called me to sing with Jeff Tolbert, another person that was on the stage that night at Hominy Valley.
Hello friends! I'm Skyler Coffey, I was born of Rev. Alan Coffey and Rhonda Coffey on 03/12/1999. I was born again on 05/02/2006 and I'll never forget that day! It is such a blessing from God to have this opportunity to sing with this group, I am very grateful.
Since I can remember I've always sang in church and sang with my family. The love for singing has always been in my heart.
When I was 7 years old the Lord saved me and God placed a song in my heart that never grows old and every day the good Lord gives me, I plan to give Him glory through singing.
Since I was a child, I've loved music. My great Uncles and Grandpa would get together, play and sing. I remember seeing my great Uncle David Clark play his Mandolin and I was so intrigued in how it sounded so my Dad bought me a mandolin when I was about 4 years old and I would literally rub the skin of my thumb off strumming the strings. I also rubbed the varnish off the back of that Mandolin dragging it around the house everywhere. At the age of 5 my Dad brought a guitar home and set me down on the bed, he showed me the G,C and D chords on the guitar and mandolin and I've been trying to learn ever since. When I was a junior in high school I was blessed with the opportunity to play with Journey Home, I left the group when I graduated high school to start Barber school. During that time the Lord called me to preach and I surrendered that calling in February 2019 when I was 19 years old. Three months later I married my beautiful wife Amazing Grace. We have two daughters, Emerson & Elizabeth. We live in McCreary County Kentucky.
The Primitive Quartet have always and always will be my favorite Gospel group. I thank God for their influence in my life. To be able to sing these old songs means everything to me. If the Lord doesn't return soon, though I believe he will, I want my children and grandchildren in the future to have the real deal songs that will bless them and encourage them. Songs that will help encourage other Christians in their own walks with the Lord. That's why this music is so important & why it HAS to live on! The good Lord has been so good to me, I can never repay him for all he's done and for the people he's placed in my life. I can never thank him enough, but I sure want to give it the best shot I can.
I'm so excited for what God has in store. I just want to be in his will more than anything and help lead sinners to Jesus!
Hello all! My name is Mitch Galyon. I was born and raised in Sweetwater, TN to Verlin (Buddy) & Marcie, I still reside there today.
Growing up, I was always around music and singing. My dad was a song leader and we attended singings almost every Saturday.
I accepted the Lord as my Savior at the age of 16. Soon after that I heard The Primitive Quartet and fell in love with that style of singing, but most of all, I felt the Spirit as they sang.
As a teenager, I learned the guitar and played it for years until about 2012, when I started playing the upright bass, or at least trying to play it.
I am greatful to be a part of Primitive Road.
God has blessed and is a blessing. I'm so thankful for the support and encouragement from my wife, Carrie and our children Kayla,Brianna,Jacob,Hannah, Hunter and Aaron.
